Gain valuable political experience and the unique opportunity to work on one of the only competitive State Senate races in New York City. We are looking for bright, energetic, and activist-minded students who are eager to learn the ins and outs of political campaigning. With your help we will elect Andrew Gounardes, a lifelong South Brooklyn resident with a strong record of progressive leadership. Winning will mean unseating a pro-Trump Republican incumbent who has blocked efforts to improve pedestrian safety, expand rights for minorities, immigrants, women, and the LGBTQ community. This is a volunteer internship designed to teach you how to operate as an effective political and community leader, campaigner, and organizer. This is one of the only competitive State races in New York City and the chance to make history!


Things you will learn in our program:

  • political communication techniques
  • voter language/terminology
  • campaign office operations
  • political fundraising 
  • networking with key organizations and stakeholders
  • political canvassing 
  • events management 
  • operating voter databases and various pro-tools
  • advance work

Skills and Requirements:

  • having a positive attitude (taken for granted all the time, but not by us)
  • strong writing and research abilities 
  • good organizational skills 
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment 
  • interest in local politics 
  • proficient in English (bi-lingual a plus)
  • familiar with MS Office Suite or Google Suite (especially Excel/Google Sheets)
  • flexible schedule (this is a campaign and you may be required to work some nights and weekends)
