Fighting for Economic Justice
While millions of New Yorkers struggle to afford basics like food and housing, those at the very top have become richer than ever. Meanwhile, the Trump administration is slashing health care, food stamps, housing and other essentials that New Yorkers rely on.
Andrew believes we don't have to accept a city where big corporations and the ultra-wealthy thrive at everyone else's expense. To fund programs that make life easier for everyday New Yorkers—like affordable housing, universal child care, and high-quality health care—he wants to close unfair loopholes and ensure big corporations pay their fair share in taxes.
That’s why he’s fighting to:
Increase the top corporate tax rate for businesses making over $5 million.
Increase income taxes on the wealthiest New Yorkers.
Eliminate the sales tax break on purchases of gold bars, bullion and other precious metals.
Decouple from the federal expansion of the Qualified Small Business Stock tax exemption, which—despite its name—overwhelmingly benefits venture capitalists and the ultrawealthy.
Decouple from provisions in Trump’s federal tax bill that change expensing rules for big businesses.
Reducing the pass-through entity tax (PTET) loophole to ensure the state’s highest earners pay their fair share.
